Strawberry Shortcake Her Very First Adventures

Strawberry Shortcake Her Very First Adventures - is a modern (meaning you can still buy it) DVD containing 2 TV Shorts of the Original Strawberry Shortcake: The World of Strawberry Shortcake and Strawberry Shortcake in Big Apple City. When I say TV Shorts you have to go back to a time when there were only 4 channels on the TV and 25 minute cartoon shorts where put on as specials during the holidays or summer. If I remember correctly Strawberry Shortcake specials played around Easter or in the early part of the summer. The most famous of all TV shorts is the Rankin-Bass puppet animated Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. We didn't have VCRs or Cabal TV at that time so to see a TV short you had to be there at the right time. A big SPECIAL would spiral across the screen and the special you had been waiting to see ALL year would play. Strawberry Shortcake was one of those TV specials. We didn't get to see Strawberry but once a year and even at that after playing the TV short for 2 years we never saw them again. We had to listen to records and read books and imagine what was happening.

I'm disappointed that the stories were not digitally re-mastered for digital stereo sound and not cleaned up to take the yellow away, but oh well maybe one day in the future. Other than that you will be charmed to hear the original voice of Strawberry Shortcake (currently doing Minnie Mouse) and Purple Pieman. Each character has his own special talent and way of acting. I think people just took more care to make sure that a special was special. There is just lots of things in Strawberryland that have been lost over time. While the sweetness of the original Strawberry Shortcake made it into the new millennium, the originality (Lucky Bug, Soda Pop Falls) and individuality (Purple Pie Man Ya Ta Ta, Lemon's mirror obsession, and Tea's British Accent) is missing. Trust me if you EVER see the old Sour Grapes in action you will not like the new one.

The World Of Strawberry Shortcake introduces you to Strawberryland and the original inhabitants of Strawberryland. You see as Strawberry makes more friends, Strawberryland gets larger. All Strawberry Shortcake stories like all the cartoons at that time were antagonist and pro-antagonist and ALWAYS, GOOD WON or OUTSMARTED EVIL, and evil was left to repent or run away to foil our heroes again another day. Here the villain The Peculiar Purple Pie Man sets out to take all the berries in Strawberryland, but little does he know that it is Strawberry's birthday and in Strawberryland EVERYONE gets a magic wish for their birthday. Will her wish be enough to save Strawberryland from the Purple Pieman?

Strawberry Shortcake in Big Apple City is a TV short that once again pitted the Purple Pie Man against Strawberry Shortcake. Both Strawberry Shortcake and The Peculiar Purple Pieman get postcards saying they have been selected as contestants in the Big Apple City Bake-Off in Times Pear. The first prize is a lovely new Gazebo. The Purple Pieman who cannot cook a decent pie decides to cheat to win. Will he succeed or will Strawberry Shortcake and her new friends Orange Blossom, Lemon Meringue, Tea 'N Honey, Apricot and her little bunny Hopsalot, along with Horseradish foil his evil schemes?
